It's a pattern I've seen a lot on my channel.

High CTR causes a boost in impressions, that boost drops CTR, traffic wanes, CTR goes back up, impressions/views steadily climb again. Actually, I've noticed a pattern between impressions & CTR. In addition, CTR always drops with more impressions for me. Generally, I do see odd videos here and there MONTHS afterwards, but that's just how the algorithm works. Nothing personal! If I search for something, I get videos centered around that topic in my feed for weeks if I don't click on any of those videos, they slowly and quietly disappear, being replaced by the latest searches or the topics I frequent. However, if they're not planning to cook fish in the next week, they may not have any interest in viewing a recipe at that moment. Here's the thing: the folks watching the seemingly unrelated videos that were then suggested your video, very well could have been searching for fish recipes in the last few weeks. Have you also experienced this where YT is showing your content to the wrong audience, negatively impacting your engagement metrics? How do I get around this problem? and it should be pretty clear that it's a fish recipe and an Indian dish. I took a lot of care in the title, description, keywords, etc. So my CTR rapidly dropped down to 1.3% (lowest ever) and YT stopped giving it more impressions. But this video was shown to people in Philippines, Turkey and Thailand alongside recipes for ice-creams, pork dishes and noodle dishes :(. My subscribers are 70% based in India and US. My video was about a fish butter fry recipe (yes, it's called butter fry, not batter fry :)).

On checking analytics I found that YT has been suggesting my video to the wrong audience alongside the wrong type of videos. Yesterday I was pleasantly surprised to see that for the first time ever, YT gave the video about 3K impressions (I usually get about 300 impressions in the first 48 hrs). So I have a cooking channel and posted my 27th video last Friday.
